Teeth Grinding?

How can stop my boyfriend grinding his teeth in his sleep.

Teeth Grinding?
oh god lucy i realy feel sorry for you would drive me mad but i dont know a cure only knock all the bloody things out then he cant grind them, lol
Reply:Remove his teeth!
Reply:Aside from the fact it annoys you it is doing serious damage to his teeth. Ask him to visit the dentist to get a gum shield.
Reply:you cant hes asleep...he doesnt know hes doing it...you can only stop him if you wakin him up......
Reply:Smack him...just kidding...he can get these things to wear from the dentist to help him stop grinding his teeth.
Reply:But a 99 cent mouthguard at Wally World/
Reply:What worked for me was a bite guard I got at the dentist. Fortunately now you can buy them in Wal Mart...it%26#039;s called the Night Guard I believe and works great. (I don%26#039;t ever have any extra cash so everytime my boyfriend does it I grab his mouth and hold it still lol)
Reply:you can buy a shield from your dentist that he puts over his teeth at night. Best thing ever, only costs about £10
Reply:Get a mouth piece for him.

I had one specially made for me because i would clench my jaw so tight every night to the point my jaw muscles got so tight, i had lock jaw. not fun.

grinding isnt as serious, but isnt healthy either. i%26#039;d say to pick up a mouth gaurd or mouth piece at a local store, have him mold it for his mouth, and pop that in before sleep. that%26#039;s basically the same thing as the device i had to have made, only its MUCH cheaper.
Reply:My twin sister and I used to do that in our sleep when we were little and my mom would come massage the side of our jaws where we were grinding and we would stop doing it, eventually we just completely quit.
Reply:some dentist give a gumshield like some sports people wear

in short go to your dentist
Reply:i do that the best thing to do is keep his mouth open (kissing in his sleeep)
Reply:Tell him to lay off the Drugs! Teeth Grinding is one of the biggest Sypmtoms of Coke, Crack, or Crank! Duh, you need to give him a Intervention already!
Reply:My son has always had this problem. The dentist recommended a mouth guard. It is a plastic device that fits over the teeth. It really helps. Grinding the teeth can damage them over time. You can call a dentist or look for one online.
Reply:go to a dentist-- they always have great solutions! if you can%26#039;t handle it that long, just stay up all night doin%26#039; what lovers do--aka KISSING!

that will definatly keep his mouth busy.

or you could just put a mouth guard in his mouth, that way he will grind-- but he will grind plastic!

either way good luck!
Reply:You can get a mouth guard either from the dental section of your pharmacy or your dentist can make one especially for his mouth.
Reply:There are some guards you can wear at night that help.

That grinding causes migraines alot of times. It also causes abnormal wearing of the tooth surfaces.

If the guard doesn%26#039;t help, he should go to a dentist that works with TMJ. They can try other treatments.

My friend stopped grinding when she stopped drinking coffee at night!
Reply:I would suggest getting a mouth gard they help the teeth not grind down and affect them.

My brother has the same problem and so he wears a mouth gard when he sleeps to help him not grind his teeth in the night.
Reply:try relaxation techniques. Dripping water, lavender, waterfalls, classical music, etc. while you sleep.

Also, a massage or certain breathing techniques just before bed may help.

If none of this help, get a football mouth piece and get him to wear it at night. If he does not like or cannot get used to the football piece, he needs to see his dentist for a more perfect impression. Grinding the teeth over a period of time causes excessive wear.
Reply:He is seriously stressed out about something that he isn%26#039;t able to either verbalize or control during his waking hours. Getting to the bottom of his inner turmoil will help immensely.
Reply:OOOOHHHH!!!....nipple time!

EDIT:

We all know the common answer by now.....geez, can%26#039;t a girl have fun?
Reply:Maybe he should go to a sleep clinic if it%26#039;s really that bad, he could be given something to help it.
Reply:Have him discuss it with his dentist, preferably someone who knows something about TMJ disorder. He may be able to get a nightguard of some kind.
Reply:They say it comes from intense frustration in waking life, or that you are in the middle of a decision making process, and indecisive...see if he is worried about something during the day that he doesn%26#039;t realise he is suppressing or maybe he knows but is having a hard time at work, relationships, money, etc...

You can get mouthguards made by his dentist to wear at night - they take impressions of his teeth and then a thin mouthguard is made from a clear %26#039;plastic%26#039; that can be put in at night and worn to prevent his teeth from getting worn down and stop the noise of the grinding. I think it doesn%26#039;t stop the movement or pressure on his TMJ (jaw) joint, so he can get damage to that joint, or headaches from his teeth grinding.

When I went through a stage of teethgrinding at night, I bought a store bought sports mouth guard (cheaper), but it was bigger than a thin ones the dentist makes - I don%26#039;t recommend it!!! lol But good luck...see if it is possibly something bothering him or weighing heavy on his mind...
Reply:he probably does that because he has mercury fillings. it is a common symptom. get them replaced. (or replace him). just kidding ;)

in the meantime, go to wal*mart and by a night guard in the pharmacy dept. you won%26#039;t hear it as much.
Reply:The dentist has several little varieties of bite guards that actually keep you from grinding your teeth in your sleep.
Reply:I used to do it when I was a child, turned out it was caused by a blocked nose. When I looked at the picture of DRPSHOLD I thought it was Fred West

and I got a fright.

Good Luck
Reply:Teeth grinding can be a symptom of having worms. May be worth doing a colon cleanse such as http://www.drnatura-eu.com/log.php which includes a full parasite cleanse.
Reply:it%26#039;s usually from stress.

i had to get a plate fitted to wear while i sleep which does actually stop the problem.

my boyfriend also does it but not as much as me. only when he%26#039;s stressed and he%26#039;s less stressed than me so he does it less!
