Hi, I%26#039;m grinding my teeth while I sleep and waking up with sore teeth and a sore jaw, and now my jaw cracks when I open it. Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop grinding my teeth in my sleep?
Teeth Grinding?
use a mouth guard %26amp; take some muscular relaxents medication in the night.
Reply:go to your dentist and get a mouthguard. My dad had the same problem
Reply:i have the same problem. it%26#039;s difficult to stop. you can start by exercising regularly. try to reduce stress in your life. limit caffiene and alcohol intake. you can try learning to meditate, or doing relaxation before bed? yoga? some drs will prescribe anti-anxiety medication, but i%26#039;ve never tried that. you can also get a mouth guard from your dentist. it won%26#039;t stop you from bruxing, but it will protect your teeth. after years of bruxing, you can actually grind your teeth down. i knew someone who cracked her molar, so a mouth guard is a good thing to have. they take a mold of your upper teeth, and make a fitted rubber thing you wear at night. when you grind it%26#039;s like have the weight of a 240 pound person standing on your jaw, it%26#039;s a very powerful thing, the jaw. it%26#039;s also so that you%26#039;re probably grinding 40 minutes of every hour while you sleep. this is why you wake up everyday with a throbbing mouth. so get out there, exercise, cut down on caffiene, try relaxation. good luck! i%26#039;m starting a meditation course in another month! :-)
Reply:Grinding is caused mainly by stress. You should get to your dentist quick smart and get yourself a splint. It is similar to a mouthguard and you wear it while you sleep. It protects your teeth from eroding as the friction caused by grinding wears away the enamel of your teeth. And once you enamel is gone it won%26#039;t come back.
Reply:YOU%26#039;LL HAVE TO GO TO YOUR DENTIST AND HAVE A MOUTHGAURD MADE TO WEAR ON YOUR TEETH WHILE YOU SLEEP TO KEEP YOUR TEETH FROM MAKING CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER.
