Teeth Grinding???

What causes it? What are treatment options?

I have this issue...I think its stress, but I don%26#039;t feel like I%26#039;ve been stressed out lately, but my boyfriend says i was grinding my teeth last night in my sleep. I have TMJ, is that a factor? What can I do?

Teeth Grinding???
Teeth grinding is an involuntary movement of the jaw while asleep. It could be stress or just a bad myofunctonal habit while asleep. What you can do is consult a dentist and they will recommend to you wearing mouthguard while sleeping. it stops the grinding and certain mouthguards also corrects TMJ, aligns malpositioned teeth and corrects mouth breathing. At first it will be uncomfortable to wear but you will get use to it in time.
Reply:It is a stress and nervous habit. TMJ is a factor. See your dentist about it. He can make you a %26quot;night guard%26quot; its simalar to what is used in some sports activities, but its custom made to fit your teeth. Instead of grinding your teeth your teeth will be protected by the %26quot;night guard%26quot;. Good Luck.
Reply:I grind my teeth very badly. I went to a dentist to have them make me a night guard which is like a retainer you wear to bed. It helps protect your teeth from the harmful grinding.

Also, try not to drink caffeine. Also, try to go to bed relaxed, not angry or worried about the next day.

Good luck!
Reply:TMJ is a big factor in it and so is stress you got both then your gonna end up grinding at night. Get a mouth garud to help with the grinding.
