Teeth Grinding?

I grind my teeth almost every night. How do I stop. I have a mouth guard and that created more problems with my jaw, besides I don%26#039;t want a bandage I want a solution.

Teeth Grinding?
Well you first need to understand why your body feels the need to grind your teeth. Its a way of telling you that its stressed and its releasing that stress through teeth grinding. It happens mostly for kids but it occurs for adults as well. I%26#039;m 24 and it happens to me as well frequently. I can only prevent it by finding a way to relieve the stress or relieve my body somehow or just use a mouth guard as well. I keep pretty physically active so that helps. The mouth guard helps me in my case cause my body knows somethings there and doesnt grind. But its probably different for you.
Reply:this is normally caused by stress. you need to relax. i had this problem and had to have teeth rebuilt because i had ground them down all the way to the nerves. it looked like cheetos stuck in my teeth where the nerve was exposed and it hurt when any thing including air touched it.
Reply:Medical term is %26quot;bruxing.%26quot; I had trouble with the mouth guard the dentist made me, but later bought one like the athletes use. Drop it in hot water to soften, then bight gently down on it. It was softer...even if I did unknowingly spit it out during the night. She probably has an uneven bite and there is a simple dental procedure to correct it. She may also be under stress. Bruxing can lead to TMJD (transmissible joint disorder) and headaches. She really needs to see a doc or a dentist.
Reply:not a good idea,try chewing sugarfree gum
Reply:Yes this is called %26quot;Bruxism%26quot; one cause can stress as stated by previous post... (try meditation CD%26#039;s before bed) and another reason (apparently) is a lack of zinc in your vitamins and minerals intake..

All the best
Reply:everyone says stress, but I%26#039;ve been doing it for atleast 25 years, and what can you be stressed about for that long? Just try to relax, take a warm bath or tylenol pm before you go to sleep. that usually helps me.
