Teeth Grinding?

Does anyone know of a way i can stop grinding my teeth during the night!

Its happening a lot at the moment as i am job hunting and worrying makes me grind more.

Teeth Grinding?
Nocturnal Bruxism(sounds way cooler than grinding teeth at night!) has a number of causes the two most common being habit and stress.

Risks are basically pain from the jaw joint and wear to the teeth.

However it is fairly common and all dentsist should be familiar with dealing with it.

Usual treatment is to remove the stressor if possible and then break the habit.

Breaking the habit is done by fitting a biteguard. These come in a variety of different types, upper or lower, soft or hard. It may be that the dentist will need to try more than one type before they find the best one for you. It is normally just worn at night but can sometimes be worn during the day if jaw symptoms are present.

The bite guard works in a couple of ways. It prevents the teeth being worn away and it prevents the muscles tightening up too much.

You may still grind with a biteguard but there is a lot less damage done. I only mention this because sometimes a patients complaint about grinding comes from their partner who complains of the noise. A biteguard just changes the noise!

But basically find yourself a job or go see a dentist.
Reply:Your orthodontist can supply you with a mouthgard that allieviates the grinding. Call your dentist.
Reply:I put mine in a jar, this seams to work fine.Hope you find this helpful.

bye
Reply:l think you can buy a guard which you put in at night. why not ring your dentist they may be able to help. or ask if boots sell them.
Reply:%26quot;doctors night guard%26quot; it is available at wal-mart
Reply:worms in ur stomach
Reply:It will most likely stop when you are a point where you are less stressed - I think you correctly suppose that the worry of job hunting is causing this. I would go to your dentist and get them to make you a mouthguard so that at least you don%26#039;t damage your teeth while you are going through this stressful time.

Good luck with the job search.
Reply:I punched my ex in the mouth when she did it and they all fell out. They dont grind anymore thats for sure!
Reply:I had one of those mouth guards and it made me want to gag. It also cost me 36 pounds from an NHS dentist, which I could ill aford at the time....... I couldn%26#039;t recommend such a thing. Eventually our Jack Russell terier found it and chewed it to pieces.

It%26#039;s all down to stress, the tooth grinding thing. It%26#039;s just a phase you are going through, but your quality of sleep will be poor. My tooth grinding coincided with a sticky patch in my first marriage. It ended abruptly when my first wife threw me out then guess what- no more tooth grinding!!

Hey good luck.
Reply:you should go to a dentist and ask him/her to make you a nightguard. you may have some bad restorations that interfere with natural movements of your jaws so your brain orders your jaws to grind in order to omit that interfere. your dentist can check this. no offense but seeing a therapist can also be effective
Reply:glass of red wine, you need to find a way to relax during your sleep.
Reply:Yes, and can be quite embarrassing as I found out when I was told that I was grinding my teeth and waking other people up!! Mine turned out to be a situation in the bone, and the pain was causing me to grind my teeth!!! But in your case; does sound to be stress induced! So, I am going to suggest a wonderful, natural calmer - a cal-mag drink which really relaxes and calms...called Calmax....health food shop; and it really does work!
Reply:Ask your dentist about this. You probably need a night guard.
Reply:The dentist can make you an appliance called a nightguard. It may be soft and flexible or hard and rigid. Your dentist can determine which is best for you. Good luck! I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll get a nice job.
Reply:My mom grinds her teeth. There is really nothing you can do to stop because you are asleep when you are doing it. The best thing to do is to get a mouth guard. My mom waited too long and her teeth were cracked. Just go to the store maybe something like Academy and by a mouth guard. I think some can be found in the football section. Its a little bit of a hassle but is better then 100%26#039;s of dollars of dental work from it. You can also call your dentist and ask for something from him. I hope it all works out.
