Teeth grinding?

how do i stop a 10/11mth. old from grinding her 4 little teeth. i have tried giving teething toys and small snacks such as crackers to avert her attention to something else but then she goes right back to it.

Reply:You can%26#039;t, and most dentists will tell you not to worry. Realistically most toddlers go through a period of tooth grinding because their gums itch and their jaws hurt. It usually passes on its own and they rarely damage their teeth.

Sometime around age 5 if they continue to grind their teeth they will take preventative measures such as mouth guards to try to break the habit before the adult teeth come in.

However like thumb-sucking it is often the toddlers that were most strongly discouraged from doing so that continue past age 4.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think you can, hopefully she%26#039;ll grow out of it soon, my daughter%26#039;s been doing the same thing on and off for the last few months, it sounds terrible.
